Showdown in syrian town of takhar
An anti-IS coalition claimed on Saturday that it had killed “several militants” in the southern Syrian town of Takhreb in northern Syria, in what appeared to be the first direct air strikes in Syria since Russia started its air campaign against Islamic State militants in Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said that a local council of Takhreb said that the US-led coalition was responsible for killing seven militants in one of two towns in northern Syria controlled by IS.
“A coalition of five countries, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Turkey and Russia has bombed Syria several times, killing and injuring many terrorists,” it said in a statement.
“The targets in Takhreb were not militants but civilians, including women and children.”
Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdelrahman, reporting from Damascus, said the coalition had targeted homes, but the towns and villages where the fighters had settled had remained under IS contr우리카지노ol.
“IS f바카라사이트ighters are in large numbers – some 30,000 to 40,000,” she said.
“The residents of northern Syria have been facing the most horrific war they’ve been through in 20 or 25 years.”
