The New South Wales Police Service (NSPHS) has banned 10 dangerous toy guns, knives, guns, stun guns and pepper spray — a crackdown launched in the wake of a nationwide gun control campaign.
A total of 10 guns and four weapons were seized from homes and businesses across the state at a police raid over the past two days.
The gun seizures also came as Premier Mike Baird vowed to “continue to improve the performance of our police service in ensuring we tackle crime”.
The gun ban took place on Christmas Eve.
It 예스카지노includes seven weapons, the most popular, including the gun of choice for criminals: an imitation handgun.
It is illegal to posses the handgun and a number of other weapons like pellet guns, stun guns, grenade launchers and homemade explosives that can be bought online on the dark web.
More than half of the 13,000 firearms seized were handguns.
The guns found were sold under the names “bungee” and “junk” and were often from NSW and Victoria.
Many of the toys found were made in foreign countries, including those made by the US.
Some were sold to children as young as three.
New South Wales Police chief commissioner Andrew Scipione said the crackdown was designed to prevent people from getting hold of guns they couldn’t afford, or ones with questionable or illegal markings.
Mr Scipione said the majority of the illegal firearms were kept under lock and key by the criminal gangs, or kept as scrap.
“We know that a large number of people aren’t able to룰렛 afford these particular items and so we’ve taken action in an effort to stop that from occurring,” he said.
“It does also prevent gun violence. The more firearms that are destroyed — even if someone can afford the guns — the fewer lives that are saved.”
