Deadly taiwan fireball caused by stage lights report says
HONG KONG, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) — China’s National Police Chief Cai Qi said Friday his force seized two red-lit stages after a fatal taiwan fireball struck a crowd of people inside a cinema in Guangdong province, killing at least 10 people.
Taiwan, one of China’s oldest martial arts forms, originated in the central province of Yunnan.
State-run media reported that one of the stage lights on the stage caught fire, causing a fireball and suffocating 12 victims. It said the body of a young man was found inside the fireball which was later pulled from the site by police and firemen. It said a police officer was also among those killed.
An official with the scene, speaking on condition of anonymity, said around 15 people had been caught in the fireball, a large number being in the area where it had struck at around 10 p.m. The official told Xinhua that they recovered a number of bodies.
He said at least 10 of the injured had b성남출장안마een taken to hospitals and that four of the dead had been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while three others had died on the way to the hospital.
The official said the stage was destroyed by heavy rain and it was unclear why it started burning when a crowd was gathering near it during a fireworks display on Friday, Xinhua reported.
Taiwan, which is popular with foreign students, is a peaceful form of martial arts with emphasis on combat and self-defense, and was introduced to China by Confucius in the late 1800s.
