Residents urged to evacuate as bushfires burn
The death toll from the bushfires in Victoria’s Murray-Darling region rose to 25 on Monday, with 10 dead as firefighters struggled to fight the flames with hose and water hoses.
About 2,600 fire crews and volunteers have battled the blazes on about 5,000 hectares in Victoria and Queensland – more than half of them remote and remote-controlled land.
An eight-year-old boy, his four-year-old brother and three other relatives were rescued when their vehicle was hit by flames.
